Hello, fellow bloggers! It is time to take a trip down memory lane... I am a future biology teacher. So, I want to discuss what your favorite Biology topic was in middle or high school! What was your fondest memory of Biology? I want to discuss this and survey the answers to get a better understanding of what different areas of Biology that students found most interesting at this age.
I loved biology in school, that's why I became a microbiologist! My first love in science was genetics, Punnett squares and family trees always made kids in class start comparing things like bent pinkies, attached earlobes and freckles! It was great to see genetics in action.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite topic was learning about plant and animal cells because we got to illustrate and diagram them. I loved anything to do with art and they were so fun to create.
ReplyDeleteAfter reflecting on my time in school, I agree with Aimee that my favorite part of biology was learning about genetics. After learning about genetics and how everything works, I began to notice things that I had in common with my mom, dad, or grandparents that others in my family do not have. For instance, both mine and my grandmothers right foot turns out when we walk. It is really cool to me to see things like that.
ReplyDeleteI remember learning about plant reproduction and thinking that was the coolest thing ever. And how important it is for bees and other animals to fly and land on plants to mix pollination.
ReplyDeleteI was not really good in Biology but my favorite part of Biology was doing the animal dissections in class. I am not good with blood and body parts, but I got excited for that. Also, I liked when we studied Cells and Homeostasis.
ReplyDeleteDuring my sophomore year of high school, we studied life science. My favorite topic that year was microbiology. We had to create a replica of a cell using candy and Rice Krispie treats. In the end, we were able to eat it.
ReplyDeleteI loved learning about how organisms interact and depend on each other. We made a model of a wetland ecosystem, it was a fun project and helped me to understand the subject.
